Question about Paysites…
Hello… There’re a lot of paysites on the net, and all of them offer a lot of content, different content… Quality, crap, exclusive, stolen, sketchy etc… And if you want to get access you have to pay $29.95 for example… In that way you get all the stuff - good and bad… But what’s better? To buy all for monthly signup or to buy only the sets you want? Let’s discuss it a bit.
Also fell free to use the Poll on the right…
P.S. Do you like the new theme?
P.P.S. For people who haven’t seen this picture, I post it again here

Well theres logic as to why people charge you for hentai. One of these reasons would be that many pervs who go to those sites are really desparate to see the pictures and jackoff. Because of this the people who run the sites are gonna charge cause people are desparate to get that great feeling. Also its a big world and there are perverts & a lot of kids are born who could end up being this way.

as long as the pic set prices aren’t horrendous, and there were samples, I would buy specific sets. i jsut don’t see the point in having a monthly fee for somehting that might only pay off once every few months.

well, i cant exactly get why people pay for porn or hentai, a few detours and a small amount of knowledge on how internet adresses work is usualy anough to get full content, for 0 price
*exept for some with high security, with encruipted datebases and such
most of em are easy though they usualy employ “www.[sitname]/[did you pay or are you a guest]/what supfolder are you in ( usualy any random numbers between 1/999 or something like that, easy to decipher though. )
/what picture are you whatchin > just chage some data and wham, your in the members section..

I personally perfer sites that are free because I don’t trust porn sites with my creditcard # and thats why I like Karbo Lab, free high quaility porn!

i agree with kingdom, cause sometimes u could go for months without seeing anything that suits ur personal interest, so why pay for it all?

paysites are a difficult thing to judge, there will always be people who will be willing to fork out the dough, then of course there are the people that will just use some wierd app to hack in/find external galleries. and dont forget karbo, some people may just plain give up and move away. although frankly karbo, an artist of your callibur would probably be able to pull it off

In the case of comics-toons, I was disappointed with the content. I absolutely loved Karbo’s stuff, but the rest of the material wasn’t that good in my opinion. Also, the updates weren’t there. Twice a month for $29.95 wasn’t very impressive. I like the idea of buying indiviudual sets as long as they aren’t too highly priced. As mentioned already, a sample or two of what is in the set also helps people decide to buy it.
I really hope you want to go into allowing people to buy individual sets of your work because unless comics-toons cuts the price in half, I just don’t see myself getting another subscription.

I agree with H13. I also had a pass to comics-toons. And other than Karbo’s stuff the rest of the site was not really worth $30 a month. They have a large selection of graphic novels and comics, but most of them can be found quite easily elsewhere on the net for free.
For any paysite to be any good and have a following, they must have a constant flow of new material coming in. Otherwise people only buy a site pass every few months or so. Another problem is how do you stop people from trading your pictures that you have worked on over the net via peer to peer, or straight out being supplied at some other dudes site somewhere.
One way to have content every week is too have contributers. People that can create similarly themed art that is of a high quality. This option of course means you have to pay said people for their work. (Ex. Your relationship with comics-toons) Another is absolutely work your ass off and go at it basically full time. Which of course can lead to burn out. The third and final option I can see is to do what others do and ue filler. Stuff that can be found everywhere and used to flesh the site out. I think we all know how we feel about option 3.
People trading your stuff is a bit of a sticky issue and is more a personal problem. How do you feel about your stuff being on some other persons site when he is charging access to his collection of files? Some people like the ‘JAB’ guy at JABcomix.com now only allows the comics to be downloaded something like 4-5 months after they come out. So if you want to see the thing in its entirety you better cough up a LOT of dough!
So with sparse other material updated, many, many people cancelled. (He enacted this new rule 2 days after I signed up) Not an option I would ever endorse. JAB however has a HUGE thing about his art being traded amongst other people. So like I said. Depends on how you feel about the subject, cuz your art will definately make you as well known as JAB.
If you are thinking about running a site, try making 4-6 comics ahead of time. Something BIIIG, like 50-60 pages. That way you can put out 5 new pages everyweek with a few misc pics thrown in too. You could have a years worth ready before you even opened. I recommend www.superheroinecentral.com along with its sister sites and www.worldofsmudge.com as perfect examples of sites that have constant original content and a loyal following.
Well I rambled on enough I think, so hope my thoughts help.
And some people think we don’t need a forum…..that would be soo cool.

omg karbo, i love the picture, i love the lay out, and please dont make this a subscription site, i need the money for other things, like food

I agree with H13, i got Comics-toons sub just to see Karbo’s stuff, i felt a little annoyed that in order to see more of your work i had to hit that site, but felt better once i discovered this place. Personally i like the idea that WWOEC has for its content, for its members only content you just pay a one time fee. ( I did that just to see Pandora’s Box work)

I honestly don’t see the point of pay sites… aerisdies.com has about every peice of hentai you could ever dream of (even some of your stuff karbo)… for free. Trust me, all hentai is free if you look in the right places.

well i think that buying specific sets that has preview is the best
for artist support and customer satisfaction. i find that stuff i get of on the english dlsite is exactly what is advertised and what im looking for when i do get something. yeah 8-12 bucks maybe a little bit high but when you know that what your getting is what you were looking for and not just a bait and switch deal then its worth it. i mean i know comic-toons support you karbo but when they how your work as the big draw but then you subscribe and
see that only a small section is your work its kind of disapointing. i rather
you did art sets alone with themes to them and we could pay you for each set
rather then the subscribing thing.

I think the point of an artist driven paysite is that the artist can rationalize spending so much time drawing naked toon girls when he/she is being paid for their time. When it is just for fun, they may allow other concerns to take priority, but if it is something they are paid to do, they may feel more motivated to get the work done.

i hate pay sits. you give them 40$ and the give you
a hand load of shit you dont want.

DarkAdmiral / February 24th, 2007, 10:20 pm / #
If I ever pay for it I take a look at what the site’s main thing and how professional it is like www.vixine.com.
Rogue / February 25th, 2007, 6:14 pm / #
yea id rather go for free shit, it aint that bad. Also is there any chance of there being a starfire version of that pic?
jack hinghoff / February 26th, 2007, 3:35 am / #

H13 / February 26th, 2007, 4:09 pm / #
I imagine Karbo is talking about his hi-rez stuff, not his preview pieces he shows us on this blog. i honestly hope he does decide to give us the option to buy his sets when they come out. I would much rather do that than spend $29.95 in the hopes that he’ll have something new out on Comics-toons.
Karbo / February 26th, 2007, 6:49 pm / #
Actually I don’t want to commercialize Karbolab… I’m gonna post here things for free… and maybe place banners to some other friendly sites… Nothing more…
It’s much interesting for me to know what people think about my work and about adult art at all…
Toshi the Wolf / February 28th, 2007, 1:16 pm / #
NOT TO BE MEAN KARBO, BUT YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS A PAY SITE AND IF YOU DO, I’LL SMACK YOU.
Kaiserdude / February 28th, 2007, 5:47 pm / #
If I had to pay, I’d only buy specific sets that I want instead of of a monthly access, though I’m pretty sure I’m never, ever, going to pay for porn. There are a lot of nice free sites like this one out there. So if someone knows any, please post ‘em? =D
P.S: Hey Karbo, is there any chance we might see some W.I.T.C.H. or Winx Club here?
Kingdom / February 28th, 2007, 8:56 pm / #
it would make sense for Karbo to get a little out of his work. I mean, some scour the internet looking for his work, then just pay 30$ to get into a sit strictly for it alone. i would pay a reasonable price for sets, but a reacurring thing is too much. i would rather know where my money is going and making sure I want what I’m paying for.
p.s…..is that raven group pic the one I submitted…and everyone voted on before all hell broke loose?…I think it is….I was ready to scream when the site when haywire just as Karbo was about to do my pic….anyway, way cool.
p.p.s….don’t make this a paysite. spending money makes my soul hurt.

I got a VERY good question, Why is ROXUS2’s name colored like Karbo’s?
Karbo / March 1st, 2007, 2:59 pm / #
Because his nick is a link… Roxus enters site name in comment form.
The Person / March 1st, 2007, 9:37 pm / #
Ok… But its a link to nothing -.-’
Peter Parker / March 13th, 2007, 6:30 pm / #
I think Karbo deserves to be paid for his work. It’s kinda sad that 50% of his visitors would look to steal from him.
